How to Use the Printable Mason Jar Savings Tracker
1. Download & print. Open the PDF above. Print. Write the start date at the top.
2. Write down a specific goal. Write your savings goal amount next to “Savings Goal.” You can also write down the thing you are saving for somewhere on the worksheet.
Divide your goal amount by 12 because there are 12 levels on the money jar. Round up to the nearest dollar.
For example, if your goal is to save $1000, you might say that each level equals $84. If you want to save $3,600, each level would equal $300.
Next, write the amount you calculated on the line above $0. Add that same amount to the current line and write it on the next line up. Keep adding that original amount to the current line until you reach the top line. The top line should equal the savings goal you wrote above the mason jar. The last level may be a slightly smaller amount, if you had to round.
3. Shade in each level as you reach the amount on the line above.
4. Celebrate your success once you have reached your goal!! Write in the end date.
Creative Ways to Use Your Free Savings Tracker
I kept this savings jar very simple on purpose. You can personalize the tracker by adding your own stickers, markers, pictures, or washi tape.
You could even stick this worksheet into a plastic sheet protector, so you can write on it with dry erase markers and reuse it over and over again.
Another idea is to create themes for the savings tracker by printing multiple copies for different sinking fund goals, such as holidays, vacations, etc.
Instead of choosing a specific goal amount, you could opt to do a money challenge. Since there are 12 levels, you could set a goal to save each month. Write the months of the year in order from bottom to top. Color in the level of each month you save and write in the amount saved that month. At the end of the year, add up the amounts you saved.
Conclusion
Again, using a visual savings tracker is a fun way to watch your savings progress, achieve savings goals, fill your bank account, and develop a saving habit.
