My youngest is currently 12 months old, and I am planning his first Easter basket this year!

A 12 month old is very different from a 23 month old, so I put together this list of Easter basket ideas with 12 month olds in mind. However, many of these ideas would work for all toddlers!

At one years old, your child is now considered a toddler. Last year, you may have given your baby an Easter basket, but they didn’t really understand it. Now, you’re looking forward to seeing their excitement on Easter morning! I think this is a great age to give a balance of practical items along with fun items. They also don’t need much, so it’s easy to keep a toddler’s Easter basket budget friendly and affordable.

Note: Read the age guidelines on any toys or snacks you buy to make sure it is safe for your child. Avoid common choking hazards, such as small toys, fruit snacks, jelly beans, and other small candy!

Without further ado, here are the best Easter basket ideas for older babies & toddlers! Most of the ideas below are great ideas for both little boys and little girls!

Cups

A new sippy cup, training cup, or bottle with a straw is a great Easter gift for this age!

We got these cups for our toddlers, and they work great! They are spill proof and can turn into a thermos!

Matching Memory Game

This is a classic game that includes a set of matching cards. There are many options available, and you may be able to find your child’s favorite characters on one!

Snack Catcher Cups

I love these snack catcher cups or anything that helps prevent my toddler from making a mess!

Silicone Bib

A silicone food-catching bib is another wonderful invention! Toddlers love to drop food, and these are easy to clean.

These are a great choice!

Animal Figures

I love the Schleich animal figurines because they’re high quality and long lasting. But they’re expensive, so we try to add a few to our collection when we can on birthdays and holidays.

This adorable set is PERFECT for Easter (includes a goose, rabbit, and sheep)!

Bubble Machine

A bubble machine is a big hit with toddlers! This Walmart bubble machine is our favorite.

Soft Photo Album for Baby

A photo album toy with a soft covering is a unique and creative gift idea! We have one, and we love it!

There are enough spots to put 4×6 photos of the most important people in your toddler’s life. They will love looking at the pictures, and you can practice developing your baby’s speech by naming each person in the pictures with them.

My favorite soft photo album toy!

Bath Toys

If your one year old likes taking baths, new bath toys are a great idea! I try to avoid rubber duckies or other bath toys that can get water stuck in them, but bath toys that are easy to clean are awesome!

Stuffed Animal

Add a stuffed animal to the Easter basket — an adorable bunny or a lamb is a cute option!

Sidewalk Chalk

A classic Easter basket stuffer is sidewalk chalk. It is the perfect activity for a nice spring day. Plus, using their little fingers to hold chalk and draw on the sidewalk is a great way to exercise their fine motor skills!

Kids Kitchen Tools for Toddlers

As soon as a toddler can climb a stool, they want to help in the kitchen and be involved in the action! This kitchen tool set is safe for kids (24 months on up) and actually works! We personally love it!

Sunhat & Sunglasses

You will thank yourself if you get a toddler-sized sunhat and sunglasses for summer. It’s something that’s easy to forget, but essential on a sunny day!

Bath Towel

Bath towels in a pastel spring color and matching wash clothes make great Easter gifts!

Snacks or Treats

Special treats are a great addition in an Easter basket! One year olds don’t need much candy, so toddler-safe snacks are the way to go. Apple sauce pouches, veggie puffs, and crackers are a fun addition! Chocolate bunnies or cookies are possible sweet options.

Popsicle Mold

A popsicle mold is a fun gift idea! It is a useful gift that you can use to make yummy and healthy popsicles for your toddler whenever you want!

Easter Dress

When I was little, my mom would get my sisters and I a new Easter dress to wear to church that day. This is a sweet tradition to start with your one year old!

Summer Clothes or Shoes

Instead of a dress or outfit for one special occasion, you could get summer clothes or summer shoes that will fit your child throughout the entire warmer weather season! Just be sure to get a size that will fit them well for the next 3-4 months.

Musical Shaker Eggs

Toddlers love music! Musical shaker eggs are a great toy for Easter.

Sensory Bin

Make a DIY reusable sensory bin!

Last Easter, I made a construction zone sensory bin for my kids. It included kinetic sand and small construction trucks in a container with a lid. This sensory bin has provided a lot of good play time over the past year.

Lego Duplos or Mega Bloks

Toddler-sized building blocks are fun toys to add to an Easter basket!

Coloring Books

Your one year old may start to color soon! A coloring book and crayons is a great idea for their Easter basket!

Play Garden Tools

Another big hit with toddlers are garden tools. Most toddlers love anything they can use to get dirty or play with mud!

Easter Book

A book telling the story of Easter from the Bible or a fun Easter bunny book is a great addition to a toddler’s Easter basket! A board book is ideal for this age because the pages are easy for little hands to turn and they are less likely to be ripped.

We have this precious Little Golden Book, and it is a great way to tell the story of Jesus and Easter to little ones.

Rain Coat & Rain Boots

How cute are toddlers in little rain coats and rain boots?? Spring can be a rainy season, so rain gear is another practical and fun idea.

Pajamas

Pajamas are always needed because toddlers are always growing and moving up into the next size! Add this essential item to your child’s Easter basket!

Toy Teether

One year olds still experience uncomfortable teething and love chew toys. This carrot teether is adorable and perfect for Easter.

Soft Blanket

A young child might love a new soft blankey in their Easter basket.

Easter Basket Supplies

Now that I’ve listed plenty of Easter basket stuffer ideas for you, here are the other supplies you need to complete your one year old’s Easter basket:

Easter Basket

If you don’t have an Easter basket, you will need to get one. There are many different options to choose from. Do you want a nice basket that your child reuses year after year, such as a wicker or woven basket? Or would you prefer a practical and multi-purposeful container, such as a plastic bucket or pail?

I have done wicker baskets before, but I don’t like storing something that we use just one day a year. So the past few years I have bought plastic Easter baskets that the kids get to play with all year. One year, my kids’ baskets Easter buckets became outdoor mud and rock containers!

Grass Filler

Easter grass goes in the bottom of the basket to make the basket look fuller and cushion the toys. You can get plastic Easter grass or crinkled paper grass. You also usually have different color options.

Tip: If you are going to store your Easter basket, save the grass filler with it to use year after year!

Plastic Eggs

Easter egg hunts are so much fun if your toddler is walking! Otherwise, you could add a few Easter eggs filled with toys and treats to their Easter basket instead!

Tip: Opt for bigger plastic eggs for this age group!

Toddler Easter Egg Filler Ideas:

  1. Sooo many ideas! Love this. I think my child would adore the construction zone sensory bin. Thank you for all the wonderful ideas!

  2. The sensory bin is absolutely genius! I have two boys, ages 2 and 5, and they’re a handful to keep up with. I think this is the perfect thing to add to their baskets, granted that I can schedule a carpet cleaning after they wreck the floors haha! Thanks so much for sharing your ideas, and happy spring!
